  Interlibrary Services Policy
     

The Interlibrary Services unit of the Reference Department at Montclair State University borrows books and obtains photocopies of articles which we do not own from other institutions for our library patrons. The purpose of this service is to supplement and enhance the information available in our collections. ILL Request Forms are available at the Reference Desk or as Electronic Forms (http://library.montclair.edu/reference/illrequests.html). Undergraduates are encouraged to exhaust resources at Montclair State before requesting material via InterLibrary Services.

I. Eligibility

The following members of the Montclair State University community are eligible for this service and must have a valid MSU ID card:

1. Faculty (Full-Time, Part-Time, Adjunct, Retired)
2. Staff
3. Students (Graduate and Undergraduate)

The following are not eligible for this service:

1. Retired Staff
2. Montclair State University Alumni
3. Students not currently enrolled at Montclair State University
4. Faculty and students from other colleges
5. Area residents and the general public

II. Fees

The ILS staff makes every effort to obtain requested materials from institutions that do not charge for this service. In the event that the requested material is obtained from an institution that does charge, the charges will be paid by the patron requesting the material.

III. Excluded Materials

As a general rule, we do not borrow reference works, government documents, dissertations, texbooks, recently published books, current best sellers, archival materials, non-print media and rare books.
