Digital Camera and Video Camera for Use in Student Projects

The Office of Information Technology and the Library provide Digital Camera/Video Equipment for loan from the Student Technology Resource Room (STRR), located in the Multimedia Resources Department of the Library. This equipment is for use by Montclair State University students for class camera/video projects.

Because the number of cameras is limited, faculty members are encouraged to meet with either Luis Rodriguez (x7805) or Patty Kahn (x6930) to discuss the project beforehand.

Borrowing Policies and Procedures

  • A faculty member can request up to two digital video cameras at one time and one digital camera at one time.  The equipment may be checked out for a maximum of one week, with no renewals, but a faculty member can specify that the equipment be loaned for a shorter period of time.

  • Faculty member downloads digital camera/video equipment loan program form (PDF) from the website Digital Camera Equipment Loan Form

  • Faculty member and student must read and sign the agreement.  A form must be filled out for each student participating in the project.

  • Faculty member sends email to strr@mail.montclair.edu with a cc: to  lis@mail.montclair.edu, indicating his or her approval for named student(s) to borrow digital camera or digital video equipment. Equipment must be reserved in advance via email.

  • Named student comes to the Student Technology Resource Room (Room 029 in Sprague Library) with the signed agreement to pick-up the requested equipment.  Equipment will only be loaned during hours when a STRR graduate student employee is available

For gradate student hours, go to:
    http://library.montclair.edu/Room029.html#j

  • Students must make an appointment, at least two business days in advance, to meet with one of the graduate students.  The email for the STRR is: strr@mail.montclair.edu,rodriguezl@mail.montclair.edu,lis@mail.montclair.edu

  • Digital video equipment may be checked out for a maximum of one week. Exceptions must be coordinated and approved by Shunfa Li (x5458).

  • Reservations will be accepted on a first come/first served basis.

  • To facilitate availability, back-to-back reservations of the equipment by the same student will not be accepted.

  • Digital camera/video equipment must be returned to the STRR, Sprague Library on or before the specified return date and time and  during a time when a STRR graduate student is available to receive the equipment.

  • Equipment will not be accepted for return at any other time.  If equipment is not accepted for return because a STRR graduate student is not available, the student will still be subject to fines for late return of equipment.

  • Failure to return equipment on time will result in a fine/rental charge of $10.00 per day until the equipment is returned.

Digital Camera/Video Equipment Borrower Responsibilities

Digital Equipment borrowers must:

  • Complete a digital camera/video equipment loan form in which the borrower acknowledges responsibility for the digital equipment and peripherals received.

  • Provide a valid Montclair State University ID.

Digital Equipment borrowers are responsible for:

  • Full replacement cost including a processing fee ($450) if any equipment charged out to them is lost, or

  • Full repair cost charged to the Office Information Technology’s selected repair service if the computer or any peripherals are damaged.

Digital equipment borrowers should never leave the camera/video equipment unattended while it is checked out to them.

If digital equipment is not returned, it will be considered theft of Montclair State University property and appropriate action will be taken.

Only one digital camera or video camcorder will be checked out per person.
